The purpose of the State Newborn Screening Priorities (State NBS Propel) program is to strengthen state public health agencies and newborn screening partners to provide timely and coordinated screening and appropriate follow-up of newborns and children with, or at risk for, heritable disorders. This is accomplished by supporting state NBS programs to address state-specific challenges to improve and expand their NBS system, achieve timeliness of NBS, and examine equity and disparities of short and long-term newborn screening follow-up.
