The UCD School of Economics offers three taught MSc programmes which can be taken on a full time (one-year) or part (two-year) time basis. All programmes feature small group teaching from leading economists and a supportive environment. As masters students you will become an integral part of our School community, attending research seminars and receiving a wide range of supports to prepare you for your research thesis or summer internship. In addition to studying core modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, you can choose from over 20 field modules including Development Economics, Experiments in Economics, and Environmental Economics.
The MSc in Applied Economics provides high quality training in economics with a focus on applications to real world problems. The course is ideal preparation for a career as a professional economist working on applying economics to policy issues or business situations. You can choose to undertake a research thesis or a summer internship. Apply here
The MSc in Quantitative Economics provides high quality quantitative training with a focus on advanced research methods and a supervised research thesis. The course prepares you for PhD-level study in economics or obtaining employment as a professional economist. You will undertake a research thesis during the summer trimester. Apply here
The MSc in Behavioural Economics provides high quality training with a focus on new models that incorporate the latest evidence on human decision making. The course prepares you for a career applying these ideas in a wide range of academic, business, and policy settings or for further PhD study. You can choose to undertake a research thesis or a summer internship. Apply here
Career opportunities: Many graduates of our MSc programmes have gone on to complete PhDs and pursue successful careers as academic or research economists. Many others have moved directly into employment in central banks, think-tanks, government departments, regulatory agencies, financial sector institutions and consultancy firms.
