Lead Substation Civil Design Engineer

£70,000 - £85,000 plus benefits + car

Our client is looking for a Lead Design Engineer – Substations Civils (LDE) to join a thriving design team.

As the LDE you will be part of their Transmission Design Team who are responsible for all permanent and temporary works design support on contracts for NG, SSE, SPEN and the full range of UK DNOs.  Your responsibilities will include day to day civil substation design activities, liaising closely with the Design Delivery Manager. The client is looking for someone who can confidently provide technical support to Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and clients. You would be working alongside other Senior Design Engineers and internal/external customers ensuring project, programme and budgetary controls at all times. You would also be tasked with performing the role of Contractor Design Assurance Engineer (CDAE).

The successful candidate would have BEng or BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering, with honours, or HND plus relevant design experience in Transmission & Distribution substation sector. Hold (or actively working towards) professional chartered status. You would also need considerable experience on civil substation design with extensive knowledge of National Grid specifications, British Standards, and other UK TNO and DNO design standards.
