Job Description

Your responsibilities

Come and join the Engineering Department's AMM (Asset and Maintenance Management) section as a Full-Stack Software Developer, where you'll be part of a team at the intersection of modern software development, asset management, DevOps, and machine learning.

In this dynamic environment, you'll be a key player in creating a portfolio of modern web applications that support various asset and maintenance management tasks across CERN for 4000 users. These applications are built on a commercial system (HxGN EAM) that acts as an inventory for millions of equipment.

By using technologies such as JavaScript (React), the HTML5 stack, Java, OIDC, and making the most of our internal cloud services, you'll be instrumental in shaping the architecture of the platform. Additionally, you'll rotate into the SCRUM master role, conduct code reviews, participate in pair coding sessions, and offer guidance to junior team members.

  • Proficiency in writing JavaScript single web page applications with React or a similar framework.
  • Awareness of the interplay between HTML, CSS and JavaScript and the ability to dynamically build and modify elements on a page with ease.
  • Hands-on experience with continuous build and automated testing.
  • Hands-on experience in using collaborative code repository inside a team (git, GitLab, GitHub).

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
