Design Engineer (Mechanical)

My client is in need of a Design Draughtsperson due to expansion. JOB SUMMARY: Working closely with the Project Engineering department using SolidWorks 3D to produce drawings to meet both client and production requirements. These can range from component parts to full skid package layouts, both mechanical and electrical (wiring). The main responsibilities of the role are: * Taking full note of standard engineering practice and clients contract specific requirements - in particular noting materials of construction, inspection requirements and regulatory requirements * Taking part in production/project review meetings to ensure timescales are adhered to * Assisting in raising Bills of Materials for sub-assemblies, piping, bolting etc and assisting in the purchasing procedure to ensure timely arrival of required materials (liaising with Production Engineers) * Maintaining drawing logs and documented evidence of issues for the production department within our ISO 9001 system * Assisting with the raising of other technical documentation as required to meet the company contractual commitments. * Production of material and weld traceability maps. Assisting in collating Manufacturing Record Books. OTHER DUTIES: A degree of flexibility is needed and the employee may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Education Mechanical /Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Mechanical / Electrical subject Degree Knowledge and Experience: * Experience and knowledge of SolidWorks 3D or similar 3 D CAD package. * Understanding and experience in the specifications, standards, requirements and expectations of design of equipment within petrochemical / renewables industry. * Experience of piping layout/skid package design and/or rotating machinery * Raising BOM’s Skills and personal attributes * Excellent communication, verbal and written skills * Ability to produce high quality engineering drawings. GA’s, P&ID’s Fabrication and Isometric. * Ability to quickly establish and where appropriate further develop effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders * Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations * Be innovative and open to new ideas * Find solutions to problems in an efficient and effective manner * Deliver with the highest integrity the best service to all our customers * Be resilient and positively adapt to change * Self-motivated with a desire to set high standards of work performance * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workload with competing priorities and frequent interruptions. * A positive outlook with the ability to inspire confidence Location: Stonehouse Salary: £40,000 Job Type: Permanent.
