Senior Structural Engineer

We’re working with a well-established, highly respected structural engineering consultancy that is looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer (PE) to their New York City team.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems in existing buildings—not just designing from scratch. You’ll be leading renovation, rehabilitation, and forensic-type projects across a diverse portfolio of structures throughout NYC.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead structural engineering projects focused on renovation, rehabilitation, and restoration of existing buildings
• Serve as Project Manager, overseeing scope, schedule, and budget from concept through construction
• Perform structural assessments, condition surveys, and forensic investigations
• Develop design solutions for repairs, retrofits, and upgrades across concrete, steel, masonry, and timber systems
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and technical reports
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and ownership teams throughout all project phases
• Manage and mentor junior engineers and support staff
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, building long-term relationships

What They’re Looking For

• PE License (NY or transferable)
• 8+ years of structural engineering experience, with a strong focus on existing buildings / renovations
• Proven experience managing projects and leading client interactions
• Strong knowledge of NYC building codes and existing building regulations
• Experience with structural analysis and design software (ETABS, RAM, RISA, etc.)
• Ability to assess existing conditions and develop practical, buildable solutions
• Strong communication skills—both technical and client-facing
