The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this NHGRI R25 program is to support research experiences in genomic data science for masters degree students who are not enrolled in a doctoral program. NHGRI seeks to focus on two objectives (a) encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in genomic data science research; (b) help recruit individuals with specific specialty or disciplinary backgrounds into research careers in genomic data science and foster a better understanding of genomics and its implications. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences. Secondary focus is on Courses for Skills Development and Mentoring Activities.
