The Faculty of Business and Economics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen advertises 2 Stephan Klasen Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers in development economics from low- and middle-income countries.
Candidates from low- and middle-income countries according to the OECD DAC list of ODA recipients are eligible to apply. Candidates are further required to hold a PhD in development economics (or similar) before the start date of the fellowship.
The fellowship period is April 1st, 2025 through March 31st, 2026. Fellows are expected to relocate to Göttingen for the period of the fellowship.
Prof. Dr. h.c. Stephan Klasen, Ph.D. was a German development economist who has made lasting contributions to the economics of poverty, inequality and gender in low- and middle-income countries. The Stephan Klasen Fellowship was established by the University of Göttingen on the occasion of Stephan Klasen’s farewell lecture to honor his achievements for development economics research in Göttingen and his commitment for the training of young scholars. The fellowship period is April 1st, 2025 through March 31st, 2026. Fellows are expected to relocate to Göttingen for the period of the fellowship.
Candidates from low- and middle-income countries according to the OECD DAC list of ODA recipients are eligible to apply. Candidates are further required to hold a PhD in development economics (or similar) before the start date of the fellowship. We are looking for early career researchers who completed their PhD within the past five years. Based on your specific conditions (please indicate, e.g., rearing of small children, severe illness, disability etc.), longer periods will be considered. At least one of the two fellowships will be awarded to a female candidate. Disabled persons with equivalent aptitude will be favored.
