To conduct a research project co-financed by the Diligentia Foundation, the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association is offering a

PhD Position (Doctoral Researcher) (f/m/x, 75%)

assigned to the Department Laws, Regulations and Factor Markets, starting as soon as possible. The research project is headed by Professor Dr Sabrina Jeworrek and Assistant Professor Dr Melina Ludolph. The contract will initially be limited to two years; an extension by two years is intended. The remuneration for the position consists of a combination of a scholarship and an employment contract. The place of employment is Halle (Saale).

What we offer

You will contribute to the project “Individual social responsibility, bank risk, and the impact of regulation”, which entails conducting behavioral experiments. The project combines the two fields behavioral and financial economics. Moreover, you will become part of a dynamic team of economists regularly publishing its work in renowned international journals. You will find a well-equipped research infrastructure and an open-minded and cooperative working environment. The Halle Institute for Economic Research is closely linked with the national and international scientific community and offers excellent opportunities to gain academic qualifications. In particular, you will be given the opportunity to obtain a PhD degree. For that, participation in the IWH Doctoral Programme in Economics (IWH-DPE) and the Central-German Doctoral Program Economics (CGDE), which IWH organises jointly with neighboring universities, is obligatory.

Your profile/Your motivation

You are curious, creative, and highly motivated to research behavioral patterns, especially in the financial industry. On top, you hold a high-quality master degree in economics, finance, or otherwise adjacent fields and have very good knowledge of applied microeconometrics, experience in the analysis of microdata as well as in dealing with corresponding statistical software. Optimally, you have basic knowledge in experimental economics and/or programming skills. Your working methods are self-responsible and structured. Organisational talent as well as team orientation and proficiency in English round off your profile. You are open to get in touch with the national and international scientific community and to cooperate with other IWH researchers.
