Special Inspector

We are partnering with a well-established inspection and engineering consultancy seeking to add a Special/Progress Inspector to their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of active construction projects throughout the NYC metro area, New Jersey, and Westchester.

As a Special Inspector, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards—contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality structures. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly communicative, and confident working independently on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct special and progress inspections on active construction sites across NYC, NJ, and Westchester.

• Review and interpret construction drawings, schedules, and specifications to ensure compliance.

• Attend pre-construction meetings, progress reviews, and final inspections as required.

• Document all findings clearly and provide timely inspection reports.

• Identify and escalate non-conforming work to contractors and project teams.

• Maintain communication with project managers and team members regarding inspection updates and site conditions.

• Collaborate effectively with contractors, clients, and colleagues across multiple projects.

• Maintain detailed, accurate, and organized records of all inspection activities.

Qualifications & Certifications:

• Demonstrated experience in construction inspections with a solid understanding of current building codes and compliance regulations.

• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

• Active certifications in one or more of the following areas (required or strongly preferred):

  • ICC/ACI Concrete Inspector

  • ICC Masonry Inspector

  • ICC Steel Bolting Inspector

  • ICC/AWS Steel Welding Inspector

  • ICC Mechanical Systems Inspector

  • ICC Sprayed Fire-Resistant Materials Inspector
