We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Associate – Lead Civil Engineer to join a growing Boston office and help lead complex site and infrastructure projects across Massachusetts.

This is a leadership role — not just a design position. You’ll oversee technical delivery, mentor staff, represent projects in front of agencies and planning boards, and actively support business development. If you’re a Massachusetts PE who wants influence, visibility, and regional impact, this is the level-up move.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead civil engineering analysis and design for:

    • Roadway design

    • Zoning analysis

    • Site plan development

    • Stormwater management

    • Utility planning and layout

    • Transportation planning and parking design

    • ADA improvements, grading, and pavement design

  • Coordinate and present submissions to municipalities, utilities, environmental agencies, and planning boards

  • Perform and oversee site investigations documenting existing conditions

  • Review and approve design calculations, drawings, specifications, and bid packages

  • Lead coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery

  • Support construction administration and resolve field issues

  • Manage projects ranging from small site restorations to large-scale new construction

  • Engage existing clients and pursue new regional opportunities

  • Lead proposal preparation for civil engineering services

  • Represent the firm at industry and business development events

  • Mentor and develop engineering staff

  • Oversee project financials and revenue forecasting on a monthly and quarterly basis

What They’re Looking For

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering

  • 12+ years of progressive site/civil experience

  • Massachusetts PE required

  • Experience working with MA cities and townships, MBTA, Massport, and/or MassDOT

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to mentor engineers and drafters

  • Strong understanding of MA permitting and local codes

  • Ability to collaborate with regional leadership to pursue new business

  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver consistently

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience required

The Bigger Picture

This role is about leadership and growth.

You’ll help expand the firm’s civil presence in the Boston market, strengthen agency relationships, and develop internal talent. It’s an opportunity to shape a regional practice — not just contribute to one.

If you’re at the stage in your career where you want to lead, grow business, and mentor the next generation of engineers, this is the kind of platform that makes sense.

Employment Type: Permanent. Sector: Civil & Structural. Salary Description: $140,000 - $175,000.
