Teaching and research in the Department of Economics is primarily concerned with issues in the areas of labor economics, international economics, political economy, migration economics and economic policy. One focus of our research is the study of the determinants of immigration and trade policy in the United States. Another focus is analyzing the long-term effects of cultural and ethnic diversity in childhood on economic behavior and outcomes. For example, a subproject of the DFG research group “Labor Market Transformation” is investigating the labor supply of immigrants. The teaching program is open to both students in North American Studies as well as for students of the Master's programs "Economics" and "Public Economics".
Subject to the availability of funds, there are plans to increase the scope of the position by an additional 25 % third-party contract to a total of 75 %.
Job description:
- Participation in research and teaching of the team lead by Prof. Dr. Max Steinhardt
- Participation in the subproject of the DFG research group “Labor Market Transformation”
- Participation in acquiring funding for, and carrying out, sponsored research.
The position aims at obtain a doctoral degree in economics at the Freie Universität Berlin.
Requirements:
- Completed university degree (master or equivalent) in economics.
Desirable:
- Knowledge in empirical economic research and econometrics
- Interest in one or more of the following research fields: political economy, economics of
migration, gender economics, North American economic policy and/or economic history - very good language skills in English (equivalent to C1)
