We have a special interest in the pineal gland, which conveys circadian information from the endogenous circadian clock of the hypothalamus into a nocturnal hormonal signal of melatonin. In a combined effort, involving neuroanatomical and molecular biological techniques, we investigate the roles of homeobox gene-encoded transcription factors in both development and mature function of the circadian system with focus on the pinealocyte, the principal melatonin-producing cell-type of the pineal gland.    The research group You will be part of a young and energetic 8-people research group, including postdocs, PhD-students and technical support. Your main task will be to perform siRNA-based and viral knockdown of homeobox genes in the brains of adult rats. In addition, you will perform siRNA-based knockdown of homeobox genes in primary neuroendocrine cell cultures and localize transcription factors in the rodent brain by use of histological techniques.   Profile
