About Us

The Economics Department at UTS Business School is seeking to make a fixed-term appointment (up to 2.5 years) at Research Associate, or Fellow level to contribute to the Australian Research Council-funded project “Inequality and intergenerational mobility: measuring what matters and why” (DP250102243). We seek candidates with an emerging record of quality scholarly research with a focus on inequality and intergenerational mobility. The role requires a PhD in Economics and demonstrated experience in applied econometrics, working with administrative data, and survey research methods—ideally with familiarity in the Australian context.

UTS has a bold vision to be a world-leading university of technology. We are a dynamic and innovative university in central Sydney, one of the world’s most desirable and multicultural cities.  UTS is consistently ranked the top young university in Australia. With a culturally diverse campus life and extensive international exchange and research programs, UTS prepares graduates for the workplaces of today and tomorrow.

We have a well-established and resourced research infrastructure, plus an ambitious strategy that will strengthen and advance our position as a leader in research and business education. We deliver a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and Executive Programs.

The Economics Department is established as one of the premier economic research departments in Australia. UTS has been ranked near the top of Australian universities for economics in every round of the “Excellence in Research” evaluation since 2010.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a practical approach and be passionate about the quality of their work. Their responsibilities will include managing day-to-day project operations alongside the Chief Investigators, compiling large-scale linked datasets, conducting data analysis, and co-authoring scholarly outputs.
