OPERATIONS MANAGER

Managing operational activities including Production and Logistics in line with the organisations business strategy and objectives. Ensuring business processes are adhered to with a strong focus on Health & Safety, Quality and Operational Efficiency. This is a Senior position and you must have extensive experience of working in a manufacturing organisation, preferably in a Production or Engineering remit.
You will work closely with the Managing Director and lead the Management Team to ensure Key Performance Indicators are achieved through Continuous Improvement Strategy and Action Plans. This an exceptional opportunity to join a leading South Wales company as it drives forward and develops the site Technology plan over the next few years
Production
Work closely with Production Management Team to ensure business strategy for production is deployed effectively.
Ensure production capacity is sufficient to meet customer demand through regular capacity planning reviews.
Monitor and improve production efficiency and productivity, need to be a key driver of change within the business.
Ensure 5-S principles are followed within production.
Work as part of the Group Operational Planning Team for implementation of the company’s Industry 4.0 Roadmap incorporating new technology within the production environment.
Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance
Work with Manufacturing Services Manager to ensure adequate support to production and warehouse areas.
New Product Introduction
Ensure business NPI Production Readiness Program is maintained and effective in terms of NPI Pilot Build, Pre build and Start of Production.
Efficient operation of business order fulfilment process through on time shipping performance.
Chair Operational Team Meetings to monitor customer order status and resolve potential issues affecting customer due dates.
Key role in monthly Sales Operational Planning Meetings ensuring business understands forward demand from customer and implementing action items to meet that demand.
Warehouse
Work closely with Warehouse Supervisor and Team Lead to ensure business processes for goods receiving, stock holding and stock replenishment to line are maintained and where necessary improved upon.
Work closely with Shipping Supervisor to ensure business process for shipping goods is maintained and improved upon where necessary.
Ensure good 5-S principles within the shipping yard.
Health & Safety
Overall responsibility for Health & Safety within the Factory working with Health & Safety Officer to ensure Health & Safety legislation and company rules and procedures are followed.
Take a key role in driving Health & Safety initiatives within the factory.
Qualifications & Experience
Individual must be able to lead and motivate the team with a minimum of 5 years experience in a management role.
Driven with the vision to excel within the operational environment.
Key driver of change within the business.
To deploy business Key Performance Indicators to groups ensuring action plans are worked upon to improve where necessary.
Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
Strategic and tactical mind set.
Graduate preferably within Engineering discipline or Business Management but with extensive engineering experience.
Automotive \ Manufacturing Experience
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma or similar disciplines.
Some experience of polyurethane moulding, and general production assembly incorporating flow line or cell-based manufacturing principles.
This is a South Wales based role and you can travel to work from Newport, Merthyr, Hereford, Abergavenny, Cwmbran, Swansea Job Type: Permanent.
