PhD Scholarships in Health Economics for domestic and international students – Monash University, Melbourne, Australia

Duration: 3.5 year fixed-term appointment

Remuneration: Generous scholarships for outstanding candidates covering tuition fees and a living allowance of $30,000 per annum full-time rate are available with top-up scholarships for eligible applicants. Additional financial support is available through research and teaching assistance, along with opportunities for funded conference travel and study exchanges with partner institutions in Europe or USA.

If you are looking for rigorous graduate research training and want to make a substantial contribution to research in the economics of health and health care, the Centre for Health Economics at Monash University offers a fully funded PhD in health economics.

We offer excellent research facilities including a dedicated PhD student work space, a Behavioural Laboratory, high quality computing facilities and internal seminar programs.

Specific coursework in health economics is included in the PhD program, with coursework in related areas available (for compulsory coursework information click here)

Applicants should have a degree in economics, econometrics or a relevant discipline with a research component and outstanding academic results. There are two separate scholarship rounds each year for international and domestic applicants. Each round has a timeline for the receipt of an Expression of Interest (EOI) and full application submission (by invitation only, following notification of a successful EOI).

Scholarship application timelines are as follows:

International Students

Round 1: EOI by 21 February, full applications (by invitation only) by 31 March (Enrolment: Jul – Dec)

Round 3: EOI by 24 July, full applications (by invitation only) by 31 August (Enrolment: Jan – Jun)

Domestic Students

Round 2: EOI by 23 April, full applications (by invitation only) by 31 May (Enrolment: Jul – Dec)

Round 4: EOI by 23 September, full applications (by invitation only) by 31 October (Enrolment: Jan – Jun)

You will be asked to include the following information as part of the EOI:

• your CV, including details of two referees
• a copy of your academic transcripts and details of grading scales (important: if possible, please also include information on your cohort rank)
• evidence of English language proficiency according to these guidelines for Business and Economics
• a 1-2-page cover letter outlining your research skills, experience, research topics of interest and why this PhD opportunity interests you.

• Current residency status
• Evidence of any scholarship you are receiving
