Two PhD / PostDoc positions in Environmental Economics

The positions

You will be part of a dynamic research team that carries out empirical work in the area of public and environmental economics. Teaching responsibilities may be conducted in German or English. Both positions are linked to a grant with the objective of carrying out field experiments in public transport. Hovever, the candidates may also pursue additional research projects of their choosing.

PhD position:

• Enrolment in the departmental PhD program (https://wwz.unibas.ch/en/gsbe/phd/) 
• You will conduct research towards a doctoral degree and assist and participate in research, teaching and administrative tasks.
• The position is funded for 4 years with an initial contract for 1 year. At the end of the first year, an assessment based on performance and a detailed research proposal is made. In case of a positive assessment, the contract is extended.

PostDoc position:

• The position is initially issued for two years, after which a performance review will decide on a further extension.

Your profile

PhD position:

• You hold a Master’s degree in Economics and have completed some courses in public, environmental and/or transport economics.
• You have a strong interest in empirical research and data analysis.
• You are fluent in English; knowledge of German is not a formal requirement but an asset.

PostDoc position:

• You hold a PhD in Economics or a related field.
• You have a strong background in public, environmental or transport economics and a solid understanding of econometrics. 
• Experience in designing and running field experiments is an asset but not a formal requirement
• You are fluent in written and spoken English.
