Job Description

Your responsibilities

Research and development of the next generation of quench detection systems based on the recently developed method of injecting arbitrary very low power stimuli. The work will focus on the further development of this technique with a view to possible application on magnet test benches, the LHC, and the FCC. The proposed work will include the development of digitally controlled stimulus generation sources and high precision measurement systems using state of the art electronics. Validation of the developments will include laboratory tests, tests on magnet test benches and in the IT string. The work should also include studies of possible integration with existing quench detection and data acquisition systems.

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
