The purpose of this NOFO is to solicit applications for continuation of a Coordinating Center (CC) to provide national leadership for the NIH-DoD-VA Pain Management Research Collaboratory program on evidence-based non-pharmacological approaches to pain management for U.S. veterans, military personnel, and/or their families. For brevity, this initiative will be referred to as the NIH-DoD-VA Pain Management Collaboratory, or PMC. Coordinating Center applicants will need to: 1) develop, adapt, and adopt technical and policy guidelines and best practices for the effective conduct of research in partnership with health care systems focused on veterans, military personnel, and their families; 2) work collaboratively with and provide technical, design, and other support to Demonstration Project teams, to develop and implement a pragmatic trial protocol; and 3) disseminate widely Collaboratory-endorsed policies and best practices and lessons learned in the Demonstration Projects for implementing research within health care settings. The Coordinating Center will also serve as the central resource for the activities of the NIH-DoD-VA Pain Management Collaboratory program, including providing administrative support for a Steering Committee and its subcommittees.
