In the United States, approximately 192,900 die from injuries and violence each year or 1 person every 3 minutes. More than 3 million people are hospitalized, and 27 million treated in emergency rooms each year. To address injury and violence prevention (IVP), CDC supports IVP at the state, local and community levels to prevent related morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this NOFO is to identify a recipient (all entities are eligible) that will strengthen IVP infrastructure and capacity in State Health Departments (SHDs). Applicant activities are intended to demonstrate progress towards the following: Increased capacity for IVP in both CDC's Core State and Injury Prevention Program (Core SIPP) funded and non-funded SHD that will advance the following: Increased development of IVP workforce competencies Increased capacity to apply systems thinking, collaborative learning, and innovative methods to implement, and evaluate IVP strategies including identifying and measuring risk and protective factors that are shared across multiple forms of injury Improved IVP capacity and infrastructure in states that received State Technical Assessment Team (STAT) visit Implementation of TA plan follow-up activities and evaluation Increased development of STRYVE Action and Council and dissemination of IVP technical packages Increased development and enhancement of partnerships that enhances a broad base of support for IVP
