The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research developing Cervid Models of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). The National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) is building the capability to perform transmission experiments in cervids to better understand the pathobiology and etiology of chronic wasting disease. To build this capability, there is a need for suitable cervid research models and expertise in cervid husbandry that can be utilized to explore CWD. Responsive applications will deliver at least ten purpose-bred white-tailed deer that are habituated to human presence and suitable for laboratory studies of chronic wasting disease.
