You will develop skills in applying various techniques that are commonly used to measure causal effects in microeconomics, including models for survival analysis, panel data models, programme evaluation, and decomposition techniques.
The aim of the programme
The programme will help you build on your undergraduate studies to develop advanced capabilities in the discipline with an emphasis on learning how to conduct evidence-based policy analysis. We will prepare you for a range of careers in which advanced economics analysis and independent thought are required, such as in government and business, think-tanks and consulting.
The structure of the programme
The first semester includes an exciting new module Advanced Quantitative Methods in Economics, in addition to the existing modules (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics 1). In the second semester two field modules – Policy Evaluation and Data Analysis and Econometrics 2 – are supplemented by two modules of your choice. The programme also incorporates a Dissertation focusing on policy evaluation for which you will be offered suitable guidance and expert supervision by one of our academics.
