In the Beam Transfer Controls (BTC) section:
- You will take over existing control software, in particular the fast pulsed magnets timing system software, continue to deploy and maintain it, and with this experience design an upgraded system to adapt to new requirements and evolution of CERN controls technologies.
- You will also provide more clever controls software, to improve diagnosis and automation of beam transfer controls, which includes getting the knowledge of hardware equipment and capturing the requirements from equipment experts, and developing algorithms which allow to distinguish faults which can be auto-reset from the ones needing expert intervention. Where applicable, machine learning shall be applied, and the system be designed envisaging its use for general hardware systems used in accelerators beyond the ABT group.
- As a member of the ABT group you will be part of a multicultural diverse team working at the forefront of accelerator injection and extraction controls, working in a very stimulating environment that will help you develop your skills in control software portability in the era of AI implementation.

About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
