The Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a temporary professorship with civil servant status (grade W2 NBesO) with tenure track (grade W2 NBesO) at the earliest possible date:
W2 Professorship with tenure track to W2 in Business Administration, in particular Marketing with a focus on Smart Sales (f/m/d)
The successful candidate will initially be appointed for a period of five years. Transfer to a permanent professorship (W2) shall take place after a positive evaluation without the position being readvertised.

Applicants should be involved in research and teaching on the design, use and control of smart sales in terms of sustainability and digitisation as sub-areas of marketing. An omni-channel perspective is desired in this examination. Applicants should have proven themselves in their previous research in at least two of the following application areas of smart sales:
- Optimisation of technology-supported interfaces (hardware, software, Big Data etc.) between suppliers and consumers with a marketing focus, which goes beyond a purely end-customer-oriented perspective
- Achieving sustainability goals and compliance with ethical issues in the context of sales processes
- Increasing consumer acceptance of innovative technologies
- Analysing and addressing consumer needs, in particular increasing consumer well-being with the support of smart sales systems
- Evaluation of the contribution of smart sales systems to company performance from a marketing perspective
Quantitative-empirical methods should be applied within the examined topics.
We are looking for a team-oriented and committed person whose research activities are business-oriented and compatible in particular with the faculty's research areas "Marketing and Consumer Science" and business informatics. Promising applicants will be able to provide evidence of their first excellent publications in leading international journals in marketing, have a clear research profile, are methodologically well proven and also have initial experience in acquiring and/or implementing third-party funded projects (DFG, EU, VW, federal government or comparable funding organisations).
The successful candidate is expected to be highly committed to business administration teaching in the field of marketing in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, the doctoral programme and the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences. The University of Göttingen attaches importance to research-oriented teaching. undergraduate and graduate business classes and to contribute actively to our doctoral programme and the Göttingen Graduate School of Social Sciences. The successful candidate is further expected to offer courses in German and English and it will be appreciated if the professorship participates in inter-faculty associations. The acquisition of third-party funds, as well as active participation in the development of the faculty are also expected.
Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. As a rule, junior professors and other members of the University of Göttingen can only be considered for a professorial appointment if after the completion of the doctoral thesis they have transferred to another university or worked for a
minimum of two years in research elsewhere. The University of Göttingen is a Public Law Foundation and thereby entitled to award professorships. Details will be provided upon request.
