Fascinated by economics and how it shapes our increasingly connected lives?

In an ever changing world, the role and influence of economics has never been more important. From the fragility of global markets, to the impact of immigration, and the organisation of healthcare systems, economics touches on all areas of modern life.

Economics studies the drivers of change. By studying economics, not only do you gain an understanding of economic theory and ideas, but you also develop key transferable skills such as analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

City, University of London offers a range of postgraduate courses in the field of economics, which enable you to expand your knowledge and increase career opportunities, following in the footsteps of recent graduates who are working in global corporations, governments and international organisations around the world.

Why City?

City, University of London is conveniently located a stone’s throw away from the world’s leading financial capital, the City of London and has strong links with industry. Academics conduct world-leading research, which informs teaching in a broad range of topics that go beyond standard micro and macroeconomics and econometrics including financial derivatives, asset pricing, epidemiology, health economics, economics of strategy, microfinance, regulation and competition, applied econometrics and many more.

Master’s programmes

Postgraduate study has tangible benefits and real long-term value. It allows you to gain specialist knowledge of a specific subject and grow your professional network to open any number of doors.

City’s Economics master’s students can tailor their career to professional interests with specialisms in economic theory as well as behavioural, business, health and development economics.

The Economics master’s programmes at City are designed to help you move smoothly from a ‘consumer’ to ‘producer’ of economics. We have a recently modernised portfolio of Economics degrees, moving away from exams towards developing skills in the use of economic theory and quantitative techniques to solve the real world problems that you will face in your career.

City’s Economics master’s programmes also offer great flexibility to fit what suits you best. You can choose whether to write a dissertation or take two further elective modules and write a literature review on a topic of your choice.

Whatever your motivations for considering a postgraduate degree, following your course you can go forward with greater confidence.
