Your responsibilities

DESIGN of Supporting COMPONENTS for XTAX, VXSS (T4) and other beam line equipment in TDC2 and TCC2

In close collaboration with experts at CERN, you will:

  • Develop comprehensive and precise engineering models utilising advanced CAD software.
  • Conduct structural analyses of beamline equipment and associated lifting equipment, using Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations.
  • Design mechanical supports to comply with TDC2 & TCC2 alignment and RP requirements, together with the appropriate tooling required.
  • Participating in the reconfiguration studies for raising the H6/H8 beamlines and shifting the P42 line, and renovation/redesign of all supports in TCC2.
  • Oversee the detailed design and document the qualification and acceptance testing of prototypes.
  • Prepare and maintain all required conformity documentation.

Your profile

Skills:

  • Very good knowledge and experience of CAD tools, preferably CATIA.
  • Very good knowledge and experience of FEM tools, preferably ANSYS.
  • Highly effective in organisation abilities as well as written and verbal communication.
  • Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 18.08.2025 at 23:59 CEST

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Target start date: 01-October-2025

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
