Job Description

The Theoretical Physics Department at CERN (CERN-TH) will make two Research Fellowship appointments, funded by ERC Grant JANUS, for a duration of 3 years beginning on 1 October 2024 or earlier. The focus of the research is on collider phenomenology with emphasis on theoretical aspects of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD).

Successful applicants will conduct research work in collaboration with the Grant's PI, Pier Monni, with the other Staff members of the Standard Model & Collider Physics group at CERN-TH, Samuel Abreu, Alexander Huss, Michelangelo Mangano, as well as with the Research Fellows of the group (https://theory.cern/people).

Qualifications

Candidates are required to hold a PhD in theoretical physics by the time they take up their appointment at CERN. Moreover, an academic track record and research experience in collider physics is required.

• An employment contract for in principle 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months.
• A stipend ranging from 6,808 to 7,218 Swiss francs per month (net of tax).
• Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
• Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva.
• 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
