What are cookies and how do we use them?
When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. Where services are delivered on the Internet, this sometimes involves placing small amounts of information on your device, for example, your computer or mobile phone. These include small files known as cookies. They cannot be used to identify you personally. These pieces of information are used to improve services for you.
Which cookies do we use?
There are two types of cookies you may encounter when using this site:
First party cookies: these are our own cookies (e.g. authentication, language and other cookies), controlled by us. They are used to enable users to use the site, for example to remember if you are logged in, and used to provide us with anonymised information about usage of our site.
Third party cookies: these are cookies created by other companies’ Internet services which we are using to enhance our site. We’ve listed each of them below:
Analytics Cookies - These enable us to understand how our sites and services are being used, how popular certain pages are, and whether it is clear enough how to navigate around our sites. Data collected is anonymised when possible. In order to achieve this, cookies from the following providers may be used:
- Google Analytics
Audience Building Cookies - These enable us to understand show advertising on other platforms to people who have used our websites and services:
- Twitter (Analytics)
- LinkedIn (Insight)
- Facebook (Custom Audience)
- Adobe (Audience Builder)
Advertising Cookies - We show adverts on our site as a means of making revenue. Additionally we hope that adverts are sometimes relevant and interesting for users. Advertising providers listed below may keep track of when they have shown you a specific advert, or when you have clicked on an advert, so they can decide whether to show you the same or a similar advert again. You can exercise control over the use of advertising cookies when you browse the internet by using the tool provided on the Adchoices website.
In order to provide targeting advertising, cookies from the following providers may be used:
- Google Ads (Publisher / Safeframe / AdExchange / AdsManagement / Doubleclick / AdSense)
- Twitter Advertising
If you need more information on our use of third party cookies, please contact us.
What are your choices regarding cookies?
Please note, however, that if you delete all cookies or refuse to accept them, you might not be able to use all of the features we offer, you may not be able to store your preferences, and some of our pages might not display properly. This is especially true of first-party cookies, without which many parts of our websites and services will not work properly.
If you would like to restrict the use of advertising cookies, on our websites and others, then you can do this using the Adchoices website. This will not mean that you will no longer see advertisements when you visit websites, but it will mean that advertisers will not be authorised to save cookies on your computer.
