Our Program offers a five semester Associate of Applied Science Degree that consists of academic, lab and clinical skills. The student surgical technologist will learn theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and the implementation of surgical instrumentation and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. As a part of our program students take the National Certification Exam via Web based testing on the Columbus State campus. Our pass rate for the National Certification Exam is 82%.
The Surgical Technology Program at Columbus State Community College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).
