Responsibilities
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is seeking a Professor (W2) of Sustainability Economics.
Core duties include research and teaching in economics. The professorship focuses particularly on environmental and resource economics. Ideally, candidates have a very good foundation in economic theory and experience with empirical and experimental research. Successful candidates are expected to participate in new and existing collaborative projects at the Faculty and the University (https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/forschung/forschungsprofil/forschungsschwerpunkte.html), especially in the core research area Climate, Earth and Environment of the University of Hamburg which includes the current Cluster of Excellence on “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS)” (https://www.cliccs.uni-hamburg.de/).
The position includes a teaching assignment of 9 course hours per week per semester, in the Bachelor of Science in Economics, the Master of Science in Economics, and the Master of Science in Politics, Economics and Philosophy. Candidates are encouraged to also teach courses within the scope of the doctoral program in the faculty’s Graduate School.
Your profile
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the designated field of the professorship.
Applicants are expected to have relevant publications in leading international journals and promising ongoing research projects. Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as experience in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects.
The University of Hamburg places particular emphasis on quality teaching. Applicants are asked to describe their teaching experience and concepts.
International applicants are expected to acquire the language skills required to teach in German (level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within 2 years of commencing employment if they have not already attained this level by the time of commencing employment.
